I did some research on this name. It came about because of a conversation with Eloise Cadima, who thought a name in Ponta Garca was Cadima or Cadinha. I came to the conclusion that the name is Achadinha. This became resolved when a different priest wrote the same name but used the A, which of course is Achadina. The priest simply wrote a stylized A which was almost undetectable. The origin is indeed a nickname that people take on or are given when they move from one village to another and their native village was Achadinha. While you can find it, and while it may have the appearance of being native from another village, other than Achadinha, everyone I checked eventually led back to Achadinha. The name seldom survives more than 2 or 3 generations before it disappears.
Even if the name is actually Chadinha, it must be a nickname. I note that E Sharp even quotes the exact same Ponta Garca Achadinha name I investigated. If someone were to look at the documents without further investigation, they could easily come to the conclusion that the name was Chadinha.
