Kathy, the UPEC is no longer in existance.  In 2011,  4 Portuguese Fraternal
Societies merged into the Portuguese Fraternal Society of America.  They were:
UPPEC, UPEC, SES, and IDES.  Earlier, the old SPRSI joined Luso America.  There
were a few smaller organizations that  also merged into larger societies before
these mentioned above.

I had connections with the UPPEC office and was able to put their 1940-2010
death records into a database. Although I have asked several times,  I have not
had been able to continue the extractions of the death records since the
merger.  Privacy issues are mentioned as to the reason they no longer allow
extractions.

If you can contact one of the old UPEC council secretaries in your area, you
may be able to get a list of the council #'s for the cities in which they
existed.  There are new numbers for the different cities now that they are
PFSA.  I have a list from an old UPPEC monthly newsletter with the cities and
council #'s.
