Either males or females can take the test. It covers all lines back to your 2 greats, finding about 90% of those cousins (assuming no intermarriage). With each generation back, there's less and less DNA, so that percentage starts to drop off. Nevertheless, Family Finder is beginning to pay off from those who have tested in the past.
