John,

Maybe that George spelling isn't as unusual as I thought. (grin) One would
suspect that your Georges' and mine connect somewhere but; I know not where
as I have none of the people you mention below in my tree "at this point".

I just got my Family Finder results back and am overwhelmed with the number
of potential "cousins"! I've sent out a couple of emails but; as Al Rose
and others have mentioned, it sure would be beneficial if everyone who is on
FTDNA submitted their gedcom.

Happy Ancestor Hunting to all, Sam in CA

As point of interest, I also have a George ancestor from Flores: Antonio
George(my 3 GGF) married to Joanna de Freitas and parents of Isabel de
Freitas Henriques. Since it's an end of line I don't know where they're from
although there a lot of Georges in nossa Sra dos Remedios.

Eric; I hope you will excuse my addled brain! Scratch all of those names!
Convergent line, wrong island!! I'll try again.

Francisco Joze da Silveira and his wife, Maria Joaquina de Trindade. His
parents, Jose da Rosa Jorge and Maria de Jesus. Her parents: Antonio
Lourenco Bispo and Maria Joaquina.

The first couple's daughter Ana Emilia Silveira/Silva was born 31 Oct. 1854
in Costas, Lajedo, Flores. I have her baptism record. The interesting thing
is that on her birth record her paternal grandfather's name is spelled
George rather than Jorge. That seems very odd to me. I don't know where
the parents or grandparents were born but; good chance in the same
location.. The only clue as to when they were born is the child, Ana's
birthdate.

I can find information about this line online in other people's trees but;
have yet to find the documentation to support the names and dates given in
these online trees.

Thanks much for your help and understanding of my earlier email with the
wrong info., Sam in CA

Can you give me a place on Flores for any of these people?

Eric; Aren't you a dear for the offer! I could give you a whole line of
people but; for starters, I have Manoel Jose Fraga born sometime in 1796,
died 4 Dec 1836 married to Leandra Rosa b. 1785, died 10 Sep 1852. His
parents: Antonio Teixeria Machado b.?, d.? and Maria Isabel Nascimento b.?,
d.?. Leandra Rosa's parents: Joao Silveira D'Avila and Barbara Pereira
Neta, b & d unknown. I have documentation proving the line up to their
children, but; haven't found the documents to go further back yet. Finding
and reading these old documents is such a tedious process, when it is even
possible.

Someday if you are really bored, I can send you a report showing the line
several generation farther back.. J

Again, thank you for your kind offer, Sam in CA

Sam .

I was away and missed your happy dance. I see you have Silva and Fraga from
Flores. I have a thousand or more people in my Flores database from
unraveling my families there. Got someone with a name and date I can look
up?

Emil, Filomena do Ceu Faria was my grandmother! She is from the island of
Faial. I guess that makes us cousins to some degree! Another cousin, Al
Rose, and I have been searching for a number of years to locate which island
the Fraga line and the Silva line, our ggrandparents, were from. Finally,
just a few months ago we found out they were from the island of Flores.
Happy Dance time!!

I know the sight you mention in your email but; there is no documentation on
it so, I hesitate to take it at face value. I know you have sent me a
family report prior to this which I still have not fully gone through. Was
the Fraga line shown in your report?

Nice to know of a new cousin, Thanks for the info. "Cousin" Sam

Hello again everyone. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could take
a look at this and translate the date of birth for me. I can translate the
rest of it myself, including the baptism date but; the date of birth has me
confused. Many thanks in advance, Sam in CA
