In response to K Amaral's message-- Hello, Kate.
I am so excited! I won't have time until Friday to look with a discerning eye at the information you've provided on Jose to determine if they are in fact the same person, but I've been trying for a very long to time to locate information on Jose here in the States and haven't come up with much information. If he returned to the Azores, that would make a lot of sense. Here are a few things that come to me off the top of my head. Feliciano and his twin Jose or Joao (we always heard Jose, but the baptismal record recorded Joao) were born 2 June 1892 to Mariana Rosa. We have found birth/baptismal records confirming this date. What we learned from that record was that the father was listed as Manuel de Sousa da Silva, but that he and Mariana were not married. I've wondered if Manuel had a family with a wife and now wonder if he might have had two sons named Jose. That being said, it does seem like everyone ever born in the Azores was named one of five names, and there are likely several thousand Jose de Sousa da Silva's born that year! I would love to find out if we are, in fact, related distantly. Bear with me until Friday evening and then I will dig deep and see what else I can turn up. Thanks so much for posting in reply to my message. Laura On Friday, April 13, 2012 2:37:53 PM UTC-4, Laura Share wrote: > > Hello!
