Shirley, you were the strongest match, the surnames that I have on my line so far, is de Souza, Ferreira, Ignacio, Branco Oliveira, Amaral, da Luz, Barboza, da Camara, and I think it was Costa Galente. I'm trying to enter all the information into my legacy program and see where we are related. It could be we are related through several different relatives so that is why we are stronger. I don't know where any of them came from except Sao Miguel. I haven't come across any documentation that shows what town they came from. There is so much intermarriage there that the prediction may be stronger than reality. If they are predicting 3rd cousins, it could be 4th or even 5th. Many of your matches will not be on this genealogy list (especially if you are of other non-Portuguese ancestry). You'll need to contact each person individually. Do a couple a day. You're going to have to research further than your greats though. And work on the freguesias. Sao Miguel island isn't enough. Since you match me, Shirley, and Altino, though, it probably has something to do with Vila Franca.
