My great grandparents on my father's side was Francisco Branco Oliveira about 1860 - 1926 who married (all the children ended using the name Oliveira Branco) Marianna Amaral about 1870-1950 According to the census they are both from Azores Caitano (aka Guitao/Keyton/Caton) de Souza 1860 - 1933 (parents Jose de Souza and Maria Ignacia) who married Maria Ferreira (Fereira) born 1865 - 1900. My great grandparents on my mother's side was Francisco A. da Luz about 1859-1945 who married (from Paul do Mar, Egreja, Madeira) parents Antonio da Luz and Angelica de Jesus Maria Silva Barboza about 1872-1948 (Sao Miguel) I'm trying to enter the rest of info in and have some death records on order to give me more info. I don't know where any of them came from except Sao Miguel. I haven't come across any documentation that shows what town they came from. It shows me and not my dad. What kind of hiccup do they have in their system tonight? Be careful when matching my dad and Shirley. There is so much intermarriage there that the prediction may be stronger than reality. If they are predicting 3rd cousins, it could be 4th or even 5th. Many of your matches will not be on this genealogy list (especially if you are of other non-Portuguese ancestry). You'll need to contact each person individually. Do a couple a day. You're going to have to research further than your greats though. And work on the freguesias. Sao Miguel island isn't enough. Since you match me, Shirley, and Altino, though, it probably has something to do with Vila Franca.
