Does anyone have any info on a Joaquim Francisco Avila born April 2, 1823 in Lajes do Pico. He married a Maria Macedo (Maria Conceicao) in 1859 and had several children. According to my grandmother 2 of the daughters moved to the U.S. One died when she was young - (maybe 40 +or-), was married to an alcoholic husband. My grandmother was not sure why she died and what happened to the other aunt. Any info, or ideas where to start looking, would be appreciated.
