For those with Moroccan-Jewish roots in the Azores:

I recently finished reading a biography of King Manuel II, Portugal`s last
king. (Reis de Portugal: D. Manuel II, Maria Cândida Proença,Círculo de
Leitores e Centro de Estudos dos Povos e Culturas de Expressão Portuguesas,
Temas e Debates, Rio de Moura: 2008). D.Manuel was a historian and bibliophile
and wrote 3 volumes on Portuguese books from the 16th century. He worked with
Dr. Moisés Bensabat Amzalac, a London-based expert on Hebrew literature. (p.
296, "D. Manuel II Historiador e Bibliográfica"). It is likely that Prof
Bensabat-Amzalac was probably closely related to the Bensabats in the Azores.

Regards,

John Miranda Raposo
