Reis de Portugal: D. Manuel  II,  by Maria Cândida Proença, published by
Círculo de Leitores e Centro de Estudos dos Povos e Culturas de Expressão
Portuguesas, Temas e Debates,  Rio de Moura: 2008. I am sure you can order it
from Livraria Bertrand. You can go on line for the web page. The book is
entirely in Portuguese, and is illustrated and has some royal pedigrees in the
appendix.
Good luck,

John Miranda Raposo

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Bensabat

Hi, John Raposa!
I have Bensabat and Amzalac in my Ancestry.   I found my info in Abaccasas'
(spelled wrong) volumes I borrowed from libraries.   My ancestors were also
Moroccan Jews who moved to Terceira.   I'm assuming the book you read is in
Portuguese?   (I only sat in a Portuguese class in college for one semester.)
What is the name of the book and how do I find it?   I was thrilled to read
your email to the group!

For those with Moroccan-Jewish roots in the Azores:

>I recently finished reading a biography of King Manuel II, Portugal`s last
>king. (Reis de Portugal: D. Manuel II, Maria Cândida Proença,Círculo de

>Temas e Debates, Rio de Moura: 2008). D.Manuel was a historian and bibliophile
>and wrote 3 volumes on Portuguese books from the 16th century. He worked with
>Dr. Moisés Bensabat Amzalac, a London-based expert on Hebrew literature. (p.
>296, "D. Manuel II Historiador e Bibliográfica"). It is likely that Prof
>Bensabat-Amzalac was probably closely related to the Bensabats in the Azores.
