Bob, In looking at your attachments, I see where we are related. Tomas Francisco Avila would be my paternal grandmother's great-grandfather. His son Joaquim Francisco Avila married Maria Conceicao. Their daughter Maria Conceicao Macedo married Antonio Joaquim Brum Silveira. Their daughter, Jacinta, is my grandmother.
Also, the other relation is Antonio Goulart Rosa and Maria Piedade. Their son Manuel Inacio da Rosa Goulart married to Maria de Brum. Their daughter Maria Brum married to Jose Pereira Caxeta. Their son Manuel Pereira Caxeta married to Maria Silveira. Their daughter Maria Vicencia Nascimento married to Joaquim Sousa Bettencourt. Their son Manuel Joaquim de Souza is my grandfather. This is great! I finally got back to this and found the connection!
