Lorraine,
We to are planning to fly from Boston on SATA to Sao Miguel. (I think all
the flights originate from Boston)
Our trip is a little more complicated since we live in El Salvador on what
we call our own island!

Booking through United, multiple destination from San Salvador to Los
Angeles layover
with family for a week, then on to Boston, Azores, back to Boston then on
to Houston
and back home here in the jungle.... Book in advance... like in the next
few weeks

My ancestors are from Faial and Pico. Although I want to see as many of
the islands as possible,
we are planning a month long trip.

My idea is to fly from Sao Miguel to maybe Terceira first, since from Sao
Miguel the
boat ride to is more than a 100 miles. Then we would take ferry’s between
the nearby ones.

The 2 western most islands Corvo and Flores would be another flight of 130
miles or more from Faial.

I have found some relatives on Faial that I am contacting through a long
lost cousin.

True that everyone has their story but after NOT KNOWING my roots for 64
years!
I am going to stand exactly where my grandfather was born and look upon
Pico Island
just like he did from Chao Frio, Flamengos, Faial.
I now have a plot map of the houses that my great grandfather and his 8
brothers and sisters lived in

I am as jazzed as can be!

AND MANY MANY THANKS to this great group for helping me to begin my big
journey.

Greg and Maria Dias not to mention our dog Sarge.
I also have Furtado, Garcia, Silva and Serpa in the last 100 years of
names... many more back to 1650

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Azores trip

We’re planning a trip to the Azores in May. Does anyone know of any
planned trips, good deals, air fares, hotels? I’m guessing the main airport
is
in San Miguel. We’ll want to travel to Graciosa (my family’s birthplace)
and probably Terciera, by boat? plane?. Any other suggestions? What
about a driver/tour guide? Thanks much!
