Isabella, there may be another reason you have difficulty finding the burial site of an ancestor at a cemetery in the Azores. I've been told (whether true or not) that the burial sites are recycled after 7 years, upon which the bones of the original individual are gathered up and placed in an ossuary (stone container). The next question is "Where are all the ossuaries stored?" I know that there are some folks from the Azores in this group. If a few of them would like to clarify the factual circumstances of this policy, I'm sure that the rest of us would greatly appreciate their input.
