Perhaps you can help me out, as I am looking for any information at all on my great-grandfather Calisto Chaves Braga. He was born in 1873 in Santa Maria (I do not know the Parish). I believe his mother's maiden name was Soares. Not that this info is helpful, but he later married Filomena (Phoebe) Resendes and immigrated to the San Jose area (via Fall River) and had US-born children, including my grandfather Manuel (by then they spelled the name Bragga). Any info at all would be fantastic, as I have next to nothing-- not even Calisto's father's name.>>
