Jacinta Furtada married Antonio de Pimentel on 2 March 1756, in Ponta Garca.
Antonio de Pimentel was the son of my 420 Antonio de Pimentel X my 421 Maria
Furtada.

I looked back at my and Shirley's GEDCOMs on Family Finder and I see may be
related to an aunt of Constancia de Jesus (who married Antonio de Mello).

Shirley shows Constancia's grandparents as Joao Fagundes Rabello (1705-1780,
Ponta Garça) and Thereza de Sousa Furtada (1707-1771, Vila Franca & Ponta
Garça). I have that same couple as parents of my direct relative: Jacinta
Furtada(1727-1797, Ponta Garça). So if this is right it would be another link
with Shirley. I'm guessing there might be more links if I keep searching. I
don't know if Ciprano is in my tree more than once, but wouldn't be surprised.
So I think I'm related to Shirley through both my g-grandmother and my
g-grandfather! This might help explain the fragmented DNA matches.

  This is interesting!

    Hi Mary K,

Since you assigned Shirley A as a cousin, I was able to run the filer.
Show Matches....then I chose "In Common With" and picked Shirley. You and
Shirley don't have any matches in common. So it's not Antonio de Mello b. 1766
in Vila Franca m. to Constancia de Jesus Pimentel b. in Ponta Garca (and m.
PG). So yes, you are right about not having enough DNA. You share 60 cMs
(centoMorgan - a genetic unit of measure like a centimeter or inch...but it's
microscopic) with Shirley and have 20 segments, but they are pretty fractured
all over the place. The biggest block is on chromosome 10 (use your Chromosome
Browser) and you'll see 3 blocks there.

Do you have Ciprano do Rego & Antonia Barboza more than once in your tree?
I wonder if this is contributing to the fragmentation. Once we start making
more and more paper trail connections, I think we will be able to help the
geneticists with our intermarrying ancestors.

Yes, Ponta Garca was there first. Then Ribeira Quente. So you will a lot
of references back and forth between the 2 freguesias.
