Yes, this is a very common notation.
The first part is:
1ª (which means first)
Next word is certidão (certificate)
Then the date (22 Setembro 1883)
Then is the title and name of the priest who made the notation.
I believe C. is for cura (curate)
But I can't read the name - maybe Junho, but I really doubt that, at least I have never seen Junho as a surname.
It means on that date a copy of his baptism was made for some reason. Maybe he emigrated, because to get a passport, they first get a copy of their birth cert for that purpose.

Can any one please tell me what the annotation in the left hand margin means. It's under the name Jacintho. It's followed by a date. The priest wrote beautifully but I don't know what the word means. I've seen it on many of the names so maybe you all already know what it means (?). Below is the link. Thanks.
