If you look at any baptism records online, you will see it's uncommon to have more than just the first name given at baptism.

Sousa is common, but not everywhere. I have many Sousa ancestors, but sometimes Sousa stands out as uncommon in some villages.

By the way, is "De Souza" just about  the most common surname in the Azores?
