I do not chime in too often, but this article from "Legal Genealogists" is not fully correct. The large "library" does have scanners, with copyright notices posted next to them.
As a genealogist by degree (BA), there is a % of a copyrighted book that can be copied. I am away from my information right now, but if memory serves me right it is about 20% of a book may be copied. It is not a problem to copy a few pages of a book, so do not panic if you have made copies.
