I found one of their children, maybe named Vitoria, but I'm not looking now, that says he is native of Bandeiras, too. And if you noticed, you know there are no records from Bandeiras, Pico for that time. It's a tragedy. I have many Bandeiras ancestors whom I found in Sao Roque do Pico records. I would dearly love to have those records from Bandeiras. Wouldn't we all love to have an extra 100-200 years of church records for our villages!
So I've been piecing together as best as possible all the Bandeiras families. Sometimes I have made a good guess as to links between generations and other times I've been able to actually prove lines.
His mother, Agueda da Boa Nova, is using a devotional name quite common for Bandeiras, because the church there is Nossa Senhora da Boa Nova, of course. And sometimes these rather unique names can lead one to answers.
I should have changed the subject to Bandeiras, Pico families...

Caetano de Sousa is pai incognito and according to NEPS born in Horta (Conceicao) to Agueda da Boa Nova. I found his marriage to Jacinta Rosa in Matriz Horta 1727-1802 page 0182. It appears his mother is from Bandeiras but it's unclear and I don't see Pico mentioned in the record. There's a side note that is unclear to me.
I haven't noticed any marches with you or your dad. I also keep the DNA for my Uncle, John Cardoza Baptiste and I haven't noticed a match to you with him either.
