Were the people on Flores using a family surname for the most part? Or, does it follow a pattern like it does on the island of Sao Jorge where the surname can change every generation or two? I would not have figured out for myself that the family surname was Armas because Salvador Rodrigues does not use the Armas surname on many of his childrens' marriage records. I've yet to delve into the baptismals to see how it is listed.
