Emil; Again, thanks for the info. Glad to know the relationship of Dot and I!
😊 I think I just found the marriage of Isabel Machado Valenca’s parents. Left
hand page:
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-CH-CALHETA-C-1696-1722/SJR-CH-CALHETA-C-1696-1722_item1/P22.html

There isn’t much of it I can read but; I “think” I see Miguel Viera de Sousa de
Borba and Barbara Valenca there??? But it’s very difficult for me to read and
I see other names as well. Can’t quite figure it all out.

Hi Sam,

Isabel Silveira Azevedo, 1774-1856, her mother Maria Silveira Neto b. 01 Oct
1753 is my wife Dot’s 4th great grand aunt who is the daughter of Joaquim
Silveira Machado b. 18 mar 1719 d. 27 Mar 1803. He married Isabel Machado
Valenca on 22 Jun 1743. She was b. 05 Nov 1713. This couple is my wife’s 5th
great grandparents and your 6th great grandparents. They also had Barbara
Silveira Machado b. 01 May 1751 d. 19 Oct 1836. She is my wife’s 4th great
grandmother and Maria Silveira Neto’s sister.

You and my wife would then be 6th cousins once removed.

My wife's Ray maiden name is a corruption of "dos Reis" Her paternal grand
father was Manuel Anthony "dos Reis" Silveira. b. 06 Jan 1854 in Faja do Belo,
San Tiago, Ribeira Seca, Calheta, Sao Jorge. He being born on this date, which
is the day of the Kings, gave him the nickname.

Emil; Hmm, your wife is Isabel’s 1st cousin 5 times removed and Isabel is my
3rd great grandmother; I wonder what that makes the relationship between your
wife and I? Can’t seem to figure that out from the charts… I think we’ve
touched base before our you wife’s and my ancestors.

Unfortunately, I’ve updated to the latest FTM and not all of my documents made
it to the new program. I’m not trying to reintegrate the documents as well as
locate new ones. Luckily, I still have the info., dates, relationships, etc.
It is the actual documents and translations I am having to relocate.

Thanks, Sam (now in Greenville, SC)
