Doug, For the first couple of years I had the group, it was kind of lonely with very few posts. But, as more people have joined Facebook and become familiar with it's format, the membership has increased. Some members are elderly, but I think because most things are standardized on Facebook, people are much more comfortable posting and sharing. Because of the little box on the right that recommends groups to people, we've really seen the membership surge this year. I've had Portuguese Hawaiian Groups on a variety of platforms over the last 10 or so years, and this is the only one that has really been successful.
We're getting a great mix of people with a variety of backgrounds. I'm glad that the Portuguese group is getting more active (I've been seeing post notifications for the last two weeks).
