Eliseu,

You can also run the "In Common With" feature with some of these "non"
Portuguese. Under the name of your match are 4 icons: Email, Notes, Pedigree,
and the twisting arrows. Left click the arrows and pick "In Common With." See
if any other known Portuguese people show up on that list.

A couple of your matches I do see on other people's pages. I think that these
people may have an early Portuguese settler and just don't know. Maybe there
was a pirate or explorer that brought his DNA over to someone in your family.
Maybe you had a line that left the Azores early on settled somewhere else.
Maybe some of these matches are really Identity by State (meaning that we are
all related in some way because we are all human beings).

I hope more people take advantage of the next sale. I purposely asked some
Graciosa researchers to test Family Finder. Since Graciosa has only 4
freguesias, it may be easier to sort out matches on that island. We'll see.

Hi Eliseu,

I would say that I get less than a 50% response rate generally I only contact
them once if they don't respond I move on to a different person. I am curious
if you can share what types of people you are matching that don't have any
Portuguese in their lines.

Hi!

My DNA matches are showing some curious results! Some of the matches show
people without a single “portuguese” in their lines! (someone said may be I had
a pirate going around J JJ…

(So I have been busy sending “tons” of emails asking people to let me know if
they want to share information or let me know if I better stop boring them!)

So, is it common? Am I doing something the wrong way? Should I wait for more
results?

Any comments will be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance J,
