Hello Everyone,

With some guidance and perseverance, I was able to find this group online
as I was looking for the Portuguese Genealogical Society of Hawaii for an
upcoming trip to Hawaii the first week in February in which I will be
bringing my mother Patricia Cabrinha (Folk) home to her birth island, Big
Island, and where she lived most of her time there and through Pearl Harbor
in Honolulu, Oahu.

My Uncle Earl, who passed away years ago had given us a precious book,
Portuguese Hawaiian Memories, which for some reason has gone missing from
my mother and my house. Last weekend I went to see her in Ohio and we
searched through a box of incredible finds from his collection of pictures
from growing up there and the book was no where to be found. I have gone
through my house as I have been working on the genealogy for sometime now
and just cannot find it.

I am absolutely heartbroken. Thanks to the Facebook page Portuguese
Hawaiian Genealogy and Heritage, who pointed me in the right direction to
find the Genealogical Society as the publisher and where I could possibly
find a new copy. Please tell me that there is a shread of hope that we
might be able to find one??

Also, I know this is really important to me, my mother as well as this will
be the first time my brother and her grandson will be there with her.
Actually us all together as one. I have been the only one lucky enough to
have traveled there with her. There is so much information we have as
someone in the extended family actually traced the family back to
approximately 1512 with a story narrative and left it among my Uncle's
belongings, as well as this collection of amazing pictures. And we, of
course, would like to collect more information, meet others, if we could
stop by...and she is hoping to go by a few of her old "stomping grounds'
one of which is her grandpa's in Kona.

We will be on Oahu landing in the morning of 2/7 and flying back out at
night on 2/10. If someone could get back to me it would be greatly
appreciated. If anyone wants any information I have I have a tree that I
am building on Ancestry (have not even gotten CLOSE to entering all the
data I have from the book my Uncle had in his things, but have a pdf
already scanned of it).

My mother is besides herself with Joy to come home...and so am I. This is
a bucket list item for her. She is a breast cancer survivor, had a hip
replacement in September..survived Pearl Harbor which I know some of you on
this page can relate in one way or another...she is my hero...and we are
coming home.

Mahalo nui loa
