*Hi Valerie,* *Welcome to the group! As for guidance, I'm sure that you'll find everyone here ready and willing to help. Its interesting that you mentioned that you were looking to contact the PGSH, because George Nelson is a cousin of yours (I've have the genealogy). Although George Nelson is not around, Dan Nelson is the president of PGSH. If you need info about the organization you can email me privately. *
*Re: Portuguese Hawaiian Memories - The members of this group are quite happy to share any research data they have with other group members; that includes those that have a copy of PHM - just ask!!! However, considering that your family was part of the Great Migration to Hawaii, it would certainly be a valuable addition to your genealogy to have a copy of PHM in your library. I'm sure that PGSH can find a copy for you, either now, or, when the next printing is available.* *Lastly, I have done some research on the Cabrinha family groups on the Big Island, and in Maui, but my records are all subsequent to the Great Migration, and, "hard copy" to boot. I would love to consult with you about your earlier ancestors - especially, those from the Azores.* On Friday, December 5, 2014 4:41:23 PM UTC-5, Valerie Dreger wrote: > > Hello Everyone, > > With some guidance and perseverance, I was able to find this group online > as I was looking for the Portuguese Genealogical Society of Hawaii for an > upcoming trip to Hawaii the first week in February in which I will be > bringing my mother Patricia Cabrinha (Folk) home to her birth island, Big > Island, and where she lived most of her time there and through Pearl Harbor > in Honolulu, Oahu. > > My Uncle Earl, who passed away years ago had given us a precious book, > Portuguese Hawaiian Memories, which for some reason has gone missing from > my mother and my house.
