If I have a ancestor that came in 1908, when should I start looking for their
passport. How far in advance would  they have applied for a passport?
Thanks

It depends on the time period and the history of ships.  It took the Mayflower
(in the 1600s) 66 days to get from England to Massachusetts.  The Titanic (in
1912) was to take about a week.  My ancestors came to America in 1901 and 1903
and I think that one of them was about a week and the other I don't remember.
