Yes, you misinterpreted Bob's question.  I answered Bob's question.

Your question is different.  The passaportes are very large ledger books.
Whatever is in existence to this day is stored at the respective archive:
Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel, Angra on Terceira, and Horta on Faial.  Only
Ponta Delgada and Horta are online.  For Angra, you need to go there or
hire a researcher.  A researcher won't hunt through all the books for you
though.  You need to have it narrowed down.  So if you have the American
arrival record in Oct. 1905, then the researcher can look for you before
that.  Joao Ventura may be able to look for you (not sure how busy he is)
but you can drop him an email at heroi99 at yahoo.com.  He is an archivist
and lives on Terceira.  He is also a researcher for hire.
