Dispenations: 1st degree: something close, like uncle/niece or aunt/nephew or something like that. Pretty rare. 2nd degree: common grandparent, so 1st cousins. 3rd degree: common great-grandparents, so 2nd cousins. 4th degree: common 2 greats, so 3rd cousins. After that, the Catholic church didn't care about the relation.
