Thank you Rosemarie, Cheri and Joao. This was my 3rd time attending this conference. Each and every year I gain new resources and tools. I have never had success in locating articles from Portuguese Newspapers before but with the hands-on direction, within a few minutes, I found an article about a grand uncle, Jose Cardoso Ventura, losing a child in Hardwick, California. I had always skipped this lecture because I was trying to look for Brazil records instead. This year was different. I stayed an extra day (Friday). With that extra day I was able to apply what I had learned with support from Cheri, Rosemarie and Joao. I discovered several passport records, newspaper articles, and also made a huge breakthroughs in my Brazil research. I was also able to do some work in my husband lineage from Germany and Poland. I learned valuable computer skills and organizational strategies that will made my research easier.
During the DNA lecture there was a drawing for $35.00 gift certificate Family Tree DNA and I won. I would like to thank the sponsor. Cheri is there a certain someone that I could send an thank you note? If so, what is their name and address. Last year I won the genealogy program. I don't usually win at these type of things so to receivable two very useful prizes was a pleasant surprise. As always, I already have a list of things I want to do when I go back to Family History Library next time. I'm looking forward to the next conference. Thanks again for providing a well planned and successful conference.
