The U.S. Postal service keeps going up in price every year. FTDNA got tired
of trying to keep up with the changes. And they got tired of kits not being
returned. So they upped the postage so it's on par with AncestryDNA
($9.95) and 23andMe ($14.95). BUT, they include the return postage back to
Texas for those who reside in the United States. I'm talking only
U.S.Postage here.

I don't remember when postage was $2.50. Waaaay back. Before this price
increase it was either $5 or $7.

Did FTDNA pad the postage? Probably. But I think they did this so they
don't have to bother raising the postage for a few years.
