Hi John, Yes, I have noticed the spelling seems to vary quite a bit both within the Portuguese records themselves and in other non-Portuguese records (English etc..). I have seen Ataide, de Ataide, Athayde, D'Atayde, D'Ataide, of Tayde, etc..
Where do your Atayde's come from again? Mine were from Graciosa mostly.
