Thanks Cheri.  I was in Horta, but at the time, did not know my grandfather 
was from Faial. Since it was not that many years ago, I thought it might be 
easier to get information.  I'll have to see if I can figure out the 
freguesia.  Obrigada!  

Rosemarie, I am from Connecticut, so unable to take advantage of your class 
in CA, but thanks for the info.
