Hello Joanne,

We have had a wonderful guide on San Miguel, Gary Travassos. I have used him
three times and he is very enthusiastic and I think wonderful. He speaks
English very well as he lived in Canada for his first ten years and then his
patents decided to go back to Sao Miguel. His family was from the Furnas area
but he lives in Ribeira Grande now. Here is his website with his contact info
and other info on what he does.
Just my advice.....visit the churches but do your research at home. Enjoy your
time there seeing all the sights and walking in the footsteps of your
ancestors! I have no Sao Miguel ancestry and am loyal to Faial.....but if you
can keep a secret, I think Sao Miguel is probably the most beautiful island!

You can email me personally if you have any questions. [email protected]
