Thanks JR. I'm guessing burial according to custom is digging the hole, sprinkling the holy water, and burying him. I can't find his wife Maria dying in Sao Miguel Arcanjo in Vila Franca. She may have lived with one of her kids and died in a freguesia over. The hunt goes on.
The priest around 1883 recorded everything! He records which neighborhood they were from (and says it was a neighborhood or suburb), which neighborhood or suburb they were in, the spouse, who the parents were, if there any kids...this priest went all out! That allowed me to figure out they were from the eastern part of Achada, which today is Feteira and they use the Santana church today.
