If you have an Ancestry.com subscription, go to the Immigration section, search for Passenger lists, and type in Lucinda Alvernaz. You'll see her coming in to America. It will say where she sailed from and it will say what her home village was and who her dad was. Make sure you read page 2 as well. Then you'll need to go out to the Azores GenWeb to figure out what they mean by that P. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~azrwgw/maps-churches-and-villages/pico.html
To figure out Hermano Martins, you need Lucinda's Declaration of Intention too. She also may have an Alien Registration as well. You can find out more about the naturalization process on the Azores GenWeb here: https://goo.gl/vOijK0 (Section 1e- The Immigrant). You also need to figure out where Lucinda married Hermano and get the marriage from that church. Not the form that they hand you. What was written in the book. The same with your dad's baptism and his sister's baptism. You don't want the church to send you the certificate. You want what is in the book. They may have stated where they are from to the church and they may have written that in the book. The certificate doesn't ask for that information so it won't be stated on the certificate.
