Sorry, I didn't get my reply posted. Just wanted to update everyone that we did find information on Hermany Martins (yes, that is the correct spelling of his name). Most helpful was the UMass Claire Carney newspapers which gave us within a week of when he returned to Portugal because of illness. So we know he (maybe the whole family??) did return overseas and he did die there. I have a theory on this not sure but I think his wife and daughter also went with him and she became pregnant in 1929 and he must have passed away between Dec. 1926 and Nov. 1929 and she returned to the U. S. to give birth to their son in NY. So far, have not found ship manifest for this.
We are still working on exactly where in Portugal/Azores? he came from and I believe we will find this out on the birth record of their daughter Dolores who was born in Fall River. His wife Lucinda de Carmo Alvernaz did come from Pico. I did find her Passporte. So we are making progress on this. Anyone on this list have Alvernaz from Pico in their family tree?
