Hi Cheryl, You'll need to do a bunch of work in the U.S. to try to figure out their island then ultimately their freguesia (village). Get yourself an Ancestry subscription (you can do it monthly) to trace your immigrant ancestors from their death, to the 1940 census on back to their immigration to America. Ancestry will help provide clues for other sources you will need to look at.
