Why don't you just try the trial version. Then if doesn't work, don't buy it. I bought the 2014 version and see no difference with the 2017 version. Apparently, the big deal is interfacing with Ancestry.com and getting that feature to work. I don't use ancestry, so it is necessary to update at all from 2014. Version 2014 works with Windows 7 and 10.
