I also upgraded to FTM 2017 from 2014 without any issues installing and converting existing trees…...until yesterday. Uploading my larger trees to Ancestry would repeatedly time out, only partially completed, and the screen displayed a request to send an error report to tech support. When I contacted tech support I was told that the “first" time you sync your tree data, there is a 1gB data limit. With larger trees, your media files can easily surpass this limit. I was told to detach media files from my tree by moving them to another document file temporarily. Then upload just the tree data and once the initial upload was successful, just add the media back to the tree and subsequent uploads should proceed without the 1 gB restriction. Thereafter you can upload your media files as needed in the future in your sync procedures. I don’t recall seeing this 1 gB restriction rule before, but I could have easily missed it.
FYI...I have not been able to complete this procedure today as there is a warning alert concerning connection interruptions today at the Ancestry site and they recommend waiting until it’s resolved hopefully today sometime. By the way, I am running on Windows 10. Hope this can be of some help other FTM users should they stumble with syncing their trees And otherwise, I find the FTM 2017 to be a nice improvement over my 2014 version. It seems a bit faster, although that’s subjective on my part. As I spend more time on the program, there may be other useful upgrades, but I wasn’t at all dissatisfied with my old FTM 2014 really. Also I find that it’s convenient to have both Ancestry hints as well as Family search hints populating your trees since I did not have that function previously.
