I have seen people post their tree on sites and when I look at it all the names are privatized so I wonder why did they post it at all? I contacted Ancestry about the problem. They assured me that they were private. I’ve only left one with Ancestry that it too is supposed to be private. The only reason I did that was I’m helping this relative develop their tree so we can learn how we are related. I would like to share how I found out about this issue. I was emailed by someone I did not know (may have been Pam). I want to thank them for the heads up. Ancestry was not responding to my emails so I deleted all my trees from their web site that same night. I’m hoping to keep this topic going so we can all stay updated. Hopefully they will fix the problem but mostly likely not since they did not acknowledge that they have a problem. I even asked to list the benefits of the web site is I cannot utilize the linked tree to keep all my computers up to date with my most current genealogy information. They failed to respond to that part of my questions. I believe I will not renew my subscription until they fix this problem. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Once again I want to thank the person that contacted me through Ancestry to let me know about my trees. Once again I hope Ancestry resolves this issue.
