Hi Nina, It says Jose de Mello, 37, son of Jose de Mello & Martinha Rosa from Matriz of Ponta Delgada (that's the Sao Sebastiao church) with Francisca da Conceicao, age 32 and children Agostinho 8, Antonio 6, and Jose 3. No mention of a Manuel. #480 on the Suffolk.
The front of the book says the Suffolk sailed Apr. 22, 1881 and arrived June 6, 1881. Go to the Azorean Passaportes and check for them outbound from Sao Miguel.
