After studying the new record provided by Margaret, and comparing it with the Relva record, it becomes clearer that the dot is not a dot, but a smaller contraction symbol to indicate an abbreviated name ie, Fr'z or Fr'ez or Fr'es for Fernandes, same with Gonsalves, Gl'z, Gl's.
