Thank you Richard. The ‘Jose da Costa Canejo & Maria da Conceição’ that I have found *are in different generations*. I haven’t found their marriage records, but they are named in the baptismal records of their children and grandchildren.

RIGHT-BOTTOM, Anna. http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1796-1801/SMG-RG-ESTRELA-B-1796-1801_item1/P7.html It is possible that the ‘Jose da Costa Canejo & Maria da Conceição’ mentioned in records #2 and #3 may be the same couple and I’ve yet to rule that in or out. Thank you, Margaret. I had found that marriage record and it indicates that the bride “Escolastica” was an exposta and baptized in Conceicao, Ribeira Grande. I found her husband’s baptismal (b. 28 May 1828) record which is #2 above and the one that started this thread. I am interested in anyone’s opinion regarding ‘Escolastica’ regarding the following information I’ve found thus far. I searched for Escolastica’s baptismal record in Conceicao from 1821 to 1837 and only found one child with that name baptized on 2 Nov 1837. And that child was an ‘exposta’. If this is her than it makes her 15 years and 7 months old at the time of the marriage to Jacinto. Now, my question is: should I continue to look back further to rule out the possibility of another considerably older ‘Escolastica’ who also happened to be exposta AND should I continue to look further forward for another considerably younger ‘Escolastica’ who also happened to be exposta. I have seen it, but how much younger could she be? My gut feeling is that this is her, but should I be a little more thorough? I have found at least 6 children belonging to Jacinto & Escolastica from 1856 to 1873. The first 5 children’s baptismal records indicate their maternal grandparents as ‘incognito’ due to the mother being ‘exposta’. However, their 6th child born in 1873 names the maternal grandparents as Elias do Rego & Maria Jacinta. I wonder if they married at some point and should I look for a marriage record? But when and where?
