Dear Philip,

I would definitely check out:

G. K. Beale and D. A. Carson, editors, Commentary on the New Testament Use of
the Old Testament. Grand Rapids: Baker Academic, 2007.

Each of the books of the NT has a separate author.
There are five areas that are engaged in the Commentary by each author:
    1. The NT Context of the Allusion or Quote.
    2. The OT Context of the Allusion or Quote.
    3. The Jewish Sources for the Allusion or Quote.
    4. The Text Used (with notation of any similarities or differences).
    5. The Theological Context, the Reason for the Allusion's or Quote's Use.

If I remember correctly, Emanuel Tov also co-authored a book on the LXX.

On the B-Greek list Albert Pietersma Albert Pietersma,
[email protected] and
Ken Penner, [email protected] would also be able to give you some
information since the LXX is their area of expertise.

Which 10 key books/journals/authors would you say is an absolute must for the

Many thanks,
