It was probably the translation of Tyndale since roughly 75% of the Tanakh was Tyndale's translation used by the translators of the AV (about 80% for NT). Tyndale did learn and know Hebrew well and Greek even better. His view was that translating Hebrew into English word by word was easier than it was in Latin. Rev. Bryant J.
