We have that problem at work too sometimes (the whole internet dies, the router dies (handily taking the LAN with it!) and requires a failover)... But our IP changes just about daily regardless. And we're on BT Business Broadband. My solution was to set up a dynamic dns entry with a VERY short TTL, then ping it every 2 minutes :) simple to do, set and forget. (I continue to <3 afraid.org)

BT's boxes do not usually change IP unless you disconnect and reconnect at the ADSL level. If this is happening a lot and turning the box off for a few minutes doesn't resolve the problem, get BT to swap your ADSL box. 2008/5/13 Jonathan Chetwynd <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Could others on BTbroadband, or other isps confirm this? BTbroadband is pretty stable in Central London, there is no doubt that the ip address is being changed on stopping iPlayer it's happened so regularly that frankly we don't use iPlayer at the moment. what I don't know is why, and whether others have this issue... cheers <http://www.openicon.org> Jonathan Chetwynd [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.openicon.org/ +44 (0) 20 7978 1764 On 13 May 2008, at 15:06, Barry Carlyon wrote: sounds like bt broadband are mucking you about Jonathan Chetwynd wrote: iplayer: ip change on disconnect the last two times I've used iplayer I close opera, and then find that my ip has changed. this seems most odd, but is it feasible? it's more than a little annoying as I host various test and develop websites. opera on os x using bt broadband cheers my logo <http://www.openicon.org> Jonathan Chetwynd [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.openicon.org/ +44 (0) 20 7978 1764 -- -------------------------------------------------------- Barry Carlyon "Located Between Al-Jazeera and BBC Radio 1" Webmaster of, http://barrycarlyon.co.uk http://lsrfm.com http://lsweb.org.uk mobile: 07729 048 443 office: 0113 380 1280 skype: barrycarlyon email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] msn: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <barry.vcf> -- Please email me back if you need any more help.
