In some cases there is a migration, but for younger viewers/listeners/users,
they just aren't going to the BBC in the first place.

i've shown that youtube graph to the BBC board three times over the
past 6 months (once every two month)

very useful graph that...

that said, alexa data is very US biased

using Neilson data, in the UK, youtube is 14th most popular site (BBC
is 4th) BUT it's growing really fast (not as fast as wikipedia,
though, which is now 10th most popular)

but it's the shift in behaviour that matters... and it's happening
fast for the young (though on average kids still watch 18 hours of TV
a week, and use the web for 2.5 hours)

It's not just television, radio will get sidelined too. Half the BBC Radio 4
content I would like to listen to is not available yet in a podcast friendly
format, so that half gets replaced by mostly US content, which seems more
positive in tone.  Occassionaly the ipod will fail in the car, I run out of
podcasts and TWIT gets replaced with You and Yours on FM, but not for long.

now this i buy... you and yours is... well, it just is...

but remember, we are bound by a regulatory process for launching  a
new service - the reason that only a few shows are in the podcast
trial is because it's a trial, aimed at judging demand as part of the
regulatory process (the dreaded public value test)
