Alright fair points!

Although I got to say eating my own excrement reminds me of that BBC Three show
mischief where someone goes on search of the worst food -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mischief/hot_topics/food.shtml (found via /programmes)

But I was comparing the actual results it got back from other search engines
when doing searches for myself and its actually really good. It picked up stuff
like the backstage website, slideshares and even videos.
Of course a html/js and api is also needed and quickly!

Cheers

Ian Forrester

ASP? I would rather eat my own excrement.

If you have a "search engine" I am sure you can afford to have a
Windows server in there somewhere with, say, VB.NET and an IE control. It's
about twenty lines of VB to get a URL from a queue, send it to the IE control,
wait for it to complete the loading, grab the control's image and JPEG it.

I'm sure it would be far too slow to do it in real time. Not quite so
sure how you would then identify where the words are on the page though.

Internet Explorer ActiveX - nice! Going to scrap Ruby and PHP
straight away and use this and ASP on my next site!
Please show me the ways Brian so I can become a master!

Even if it is flash it does look good, similar
to piclens in how it works, I'm surprised its not by the same people.
I wonder who they are using to get the screen
shots

I thought the way to do this is to use the Internet
Explorer ActiveX control to render the page, and then save the bitmap content?
