Tricky question which I'm sure someone else here can answer (and I'm a UNIX guy so not that involved in Windows-type installations). But bare-metal installs normally start with PXE-boot type installations, so if Windows supports that then it shouldn't be too hard to implement that type of thing. Personally though, I think there are products out there more suited to this than BackupPC (system imager for example), as that project is specifically designed to do that, while BackupPC's scope may not extend to bare metal installs.
