my priority is making sure that these laptops are backed up and the data is
safe.  the people that are running the laptops dont have that same priority
and will not do the backups.  i need to get these backups done when they are
on the local network.  right now it does work but only on the hourly
wakeups.  also, some machines fail to be discovered by nmblookup.  even with
the software firewall turned off, some machines arent found by nmblookup.
you almost just need to set samba up as a WINS server and add that to the
DHCP settings so nmblookup can find everyone.
